Professor David Dodwell
Professor David Dodwell is Senior Breast Oncologist with a number of research and governance activities. He is the Lead Oncologist on the Sloane, NHS screening and national Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) breast cancer audits.
Professor Dodwell is Senior Research Fellow within the Early Breast Cancer Trialists' Collaborative Group (EBCTCG), and a member of steering groups for 12 ongoing UK trials in breast cancer. He sits on the trial management committees for three trials.
Professor Dodwell is the UK lead for the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) project (UK chemotherapy database) and chairs the clinical group, which provides input and advice to this project examining the safety, efficacy and cost effectiveness of chemotherapy used in England. This has a current focus on the assessment of early chemotherapy mortality, outcomes following the use of Cancer Drugs Fund drugs, ascertainment and data quality, the treatment of older patients, outcomes in the context of body mass index, and the variable uptake of chemotherapy according to socio-economic status, age, proximity to hospital and stage.
